Toy Models for Retrocausality

چکیده

A number of writers have been attracted to the idea that some of the peculiarities ofquantum theory might be manifestations of ‘backward’ or ‘retro’ causality, underlying thequantum description. This idea has been explored in the literature in two main ways:firstly in a variety of explicit models of quantum systems, and secondly at a concep-tual level. This note introduces a third approach, intended to complement the othertwo. It describes a simple toy model, which, under a natural interpretation, shows howretrocausality can emerge from simple global constraints. The model is also useful inpermitting a clear distinction between the kind of retrocausality likely to be of interest inQM, and a different kind of reverse causality, with which it is liable to be confused. Themodel is proposed in the hope that future elaborations might throw light on the potentialof retrocausality to account for quantum phenomena. Customer lifetime value model in an online toy store

Business all around the world uses different approaches to know their customers, segment them and formulate suitable strategies for them. One of these approaches is calculating the value of each customer for the company. In this paper by calculating Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) for individual customers of an online toy store named Alakdolak, three customer segments are extracted. The level of ...

Two Arrows of Time in Nonlocal Particle Dynamics

Considering what the world would be like if backwards causation were possible is usually mind-bending. Here I discuss something that is easier to study: a toy model that incorporates a very restricted sort of backwards causation. It defines particle world lines by means of a kind of differential delay equation with negative delay. The model presumably prohibits signalling to the past and superl...

Time-symmetry without retrocausality: how the quantum can withhold the solace

It has been suggested that some of the puzzles of QM are resolved if we allow that there is retrocausality in the quantum world. In particular, it has been claimed that this approach offers a path to a Lorentz-invariant explanation of Bell correlations, and other manifestations of quantum “nonlocality”, without action-at-a-distance. Some writers have suggested that this proposal can be supporte...

Quantum Mechanical Retrocausation? Call for Nonlocal Causal Models!

A new possible version of multisimultaneous causality is proposed, and real experiments allowing us to decide between this view and quantum mechanical retrocausation are further discussed. The interest of testing quantum mechanics against as many nonlocal causal models as possible is stressed.

Does Time-Symmetry Imply Retrocausality? How the Quantum World Says “Maybe”

It has often been suggested that retrocausality offers a solution to some of the puzzles of quantum mechanics: e.g., that it allows a Lorentz-invariant explanation of Bell correlations, and other manifestations of quantum nonlocality, without action-at-a-distance. Some writers have argued that time-symmetry counts in favour of such a view, in the sense that retrocausality would be a natural con...
